NAHU’s 2009-2010 Board of Trustees Candidates
Steve Selinsky
President-Elect
With the new
administration in
Washington, DC,
health care will
be changing at a
apid pace and
it’s critical that
benefit professionals
take an active role
in where it is going.
BioI have been active in the health insurance since 1990. I currently serve as
vice president of sales for Warner Pacific in Michigan. In addition to Warner
Pacific, I have headed up Humana’s consumerism efforts in the Midwest, and
spent 10 years at PPOM, where I served as senior vice president of sales and
provider services.
I joined NAHU in 1997 and have served as RVP for Region 3, president of
Metro Detroit AHU, regional, local and state membership chair, programs chair
and education chair. I helped launch the New Agents Advisory Group and cur-
rently serve as NAHU vice president. I have received the NAHU Distinguished
Service Award, Presidential Citation Award and the MDAHU Rookie of the Year
Award, and I am a seven-year qualifier for LPRT Golden Eagle. I also am a
Capitol Club supporter of HUPAC.
I received a B.A. cum laude from Albion College. In addition to NAHU, I am
active in NAIFA and my local literacy council. My wife, Kerry, and I have two
children, Madison and Jake. In our spare time, we love to travel and spend time
in Northern Michigan.
MyRecoVgniziingstheievoer-cnhanging health care financing arena and the impor-
tance NAHU plays in maintaining the agent distribution system, now more
than ever, we need to engage our members. Given my current role on the
NAHU Board of Trustees, I recognize the time commitment the president-
elect position will require and the significance it plays in carrying out our
mission and vision.
I feel my past accomplishments—professionally, within NAHU and with-
in the industry—support my dedication to the position. How many profes-
sions allow you to make a difference and have fun while you do it? With the
new administration in Washington, DC, health care will be changing at a
rapid pace and it’s critical that benefit professionals take an active role in
where it is going. NAHU has become a leading voice on health care issues
and is at the table when it comes to where our industry is headed.
We need to ensure the association and our chapters continue to prosper.
To do this, we must focus on developing future producers, growing member-
ship, engaging our members and, most important, continuing to educate our
members, legislators and the public on the important role we play in the fi-
nancing of America’s health care.
I have passion for my profession and for our association. The opportunity
to continue to lead and make a difference on these initiatives via my role on
the NAHU BOT is exciting and a challenge that I am ready and willing to
commit to if elected president-elect of NAHU.
