takes time to make sure not only his clients are taken care of,
but his friends and family as well. He truly is the definition
of a ‘good guy.’
I was so happy and excited for my dad when I found out
he would receive the Gordon Award. It was really neat to see
just how many people lined up to congratulate him on stage
at the dinner. That is a perfect testament to how many people he has impacted in some way. I am so proud of my dad
and thank the committee for deciding to give the award to
him this year.

Mike was one of my first NAHU mentors. I remember meeting him back when I was truly a ‘newbie’ with no clue about
anything concerning NAHU. I was fortunate enough to travel to
North Carolina’s Leadership Training meeting where Mike
quickly took me under his wing and helped me feel very comfortable, not just in North Carolina, but wherever we were together
at meetings. More than that, he has been central to my development as a NAHU leader, always available to encourage and support my own efforts.
I don’t have to tell you what a kind, compassionate and
ethical man he is. You just know when you meet him that he
will tell you the truth, whether you like it or not.
This award for Mike is long overdue, and I am humbled
and honored to call him my friend.

Mike: Not only is this honor greatly deserved but, from a
somewhat selfish standpoint, I am glad that it was me who was
able to announce your name. You have been a great friend to
me over the years, and our families have gotten very close over
that time. You are truly a testament to what a leader, producer, spouse, father and friend should strive to become. My deep-est congratulations to you and your great family, because I
know that they are a very big part of this award as well.
